UCLA What's bruin
During my last year working for the Bruin Media Group, I expanded upon my position as Graphic Designer and worked as one of the Social Media Managers as well. Once I joined the Social Team, I played an integral role in managing @uclawhatsbruin, increasing the follower count from 9K to 11K. I cleaned up many of the distracting advertisements in the feed and developed relevant content that performed well among UCLA students looking for new activities on campus and in LA. I also helped plan the content calendar for an affiliated account called @uclaclassof_2026 which was catered to new students.
Post Examples
One of my main goals was to ensure that the Bruin Media Group’s advertisements fit more seamlessly within @uclawhatsbruin’s feed. I stressed to the team that if we bombarded the page with too many ads and not enough fun, engaging content, students would begin to unfollow. One of my more successful posts updating students about a new eatery on campus gained over 1K likes.
